Ole Miss has taken major strides this season. They were playoff-bound when Lane Kiffin was their head coach and continued to stack up wins even after his exit.
Kiffin’s leaving the program was expected to have a negative impact on the Rebels’ season. However, they not only survived his departure but also played some of their football since he left, making it to the CFP semifinals.
But the problems are far from over. It was recently reported that Ole Miss will lose most of its LSU-bound coaches this week. They are set to play the Miami Hurricanes in less than a week, and doing so without most of the old coaching staff will be an uphill battle. They will retain offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. for the rest of the season, but it’s still a major overhaul.
Fans are now accusing Kiffin of destroying the Rebels’ title chase.
“Crybaby Kiffin,” a fan wrote.
“Can the Ole Miss players sue Lane Kiffin and LSU?” a fan wrote.
“It’ll be over soon once Miami handles their business,” a fan wrote.
“cold world,” a fan wrote.
“Why would anyone want to play for Kiffin after this ?” a fan wrote.
“Lane Kiffin is bad for college football,” a fan wrote.
Some fans also think that something has to be done to prevent a situation like this in the future. Interestingly, when Kiffin accepted LSU’s offer, he told the Rebels’ athletic director he wanted to end the season at Ole Miss. However, his request was denied, which prompted him to leave immediately.
Lane Kiffin Inserting Himself in the Rebels’ Title Chase, Says On3 Analyst
It’s been a while since he left, but Lane Kiffin is still a big part of the Rebels’ run this season.
As per On3’s Andy Staples, Kiffin’s name will be attached to Ole Miss’ success this season.
“You made your decision, and you’re not a part of the run. That doesn’t mean that I don’t think that he would be entitled to credit if they win the championship. I do think that, regardless of how you feel about Lane Kiffin, he did build that team,” he said.
Kiffin played a major role in developing the Rebels and making them strong enough to reach the semifinals.
