LSU Tigers coach Lane Kiffin credited his long-time offensive coordinator, Charlie Weis Jr., in recent offseason rankings in which they were both named. On Thursday, Feb. 26, college football analyst David Pollack released his top five college football offensive coordinator hires of the 2026 offseason and placed Kiffin and Weis Jr. as the game-changers of them all.
With Weis Jr. joining Kiffin at the Tigers program, both have generated hype about what they can transform LSU into in the upcoming campaign. The four who followed them on Pollack’s list include Florida Gators’ Buster Faulkner, the duo of Kentucky Wildcats’ Will Stein and Joe Sloan, Northwestern Wildcats’ Chip Kelly, and North Carolina Tar Heels’ Bobby Petrino.
Given this, Kiffin decided to share the post and turn all the attention towards Weis Jr.
“No need to slash. All CW!!!,” Kiffin captioned.
Weis Jr. has recently joined Kiffin in the Louisiana-based program after both had successful tenures with the Ole Miss Rebels. Kiffin infamously exited from the Rebels program in early December of last year after a lengthy tenure with the team, which sparked outrage among the Ole Miss faithful. His focus now shifts to improving the Tigers‘ last year’s overall record of 7-5 (3-5 SEC).
Lane Kiffin Praised The 2025-26 Ole Miss Rebels When Charlie Weis Jr. Returned In The CFP
As opposed to Kiffin, Charlie Weis Jr. was actually allowed by the Ole Miss Rebels to coach the team throughout the 2025-26 college football playoff, despite him already committing to the LSU Tigers.
When the announcement was made, Kiffin was pleased with the move and even praised the team he recently left abruptly.
“With the playoff committee releasing updated rankings, I wanted it to be known that after conversations with LSU, we are allowing Charlie to return to Ole Miss to coach the team during the playoffs. I’ve already made the committee aware of this and I’m hopeful this decision will allow Ole Miss to receive the highest ranking possible because these great players are very deserving of that,” Kiffin was quoted as saying.
“I’m excited that Charlie will be back to help coach the greatest team in the history of Ole Miss,” he concluded.
