The Indiana star quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, is set to secure the No.1 overall pick during the 2026 NFL Draft and go to Tom Brady’s (who has a net worth of $300 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth) Las Vegas Raiders.
Mendoza had a fantastic run in the 2025 season; he not only won the Heisman Trophy, but he also led the Hoosiers to a national championship and the FBS with a 90.3 QBR and 41 passing touchdowns.
While there weren’t many reservations about Mendoza getting the No.1 overall pick, NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah noticed a few activities by Tom Brady, who partially owns the franchise, that confirm the upcoming union.
“I think I saw video of Tom Brady at the Olympics taking in some ice hockey. That doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of worry about what they’re going to do with the first overall pick. Um, so I think that one feels pretty concrete. And um, a couple things, he’s worthy of being the first pick. There’s years where, and we’ve discussed this, where my top overall player, um, you know, might be at a different position and maybe the quarterback’s the fourth or fifth best player just in terms of grade, but they still go one because of, you know, the obvious need there.”
“In my opinion, I think he’s the best football player in the draft. So, um, he’s warranted to be the first overall pick. I think he’s going to fit very well with Kubak.” Jeremiah said.
Colin Cowherd Points Out Concern for Fernando Mendoza’s Raiders Move
During one of his recent analyses, Colin Cowherd discussed a point of concern for Indiana star Fernando Mendoza’s potential Raiders move, which is the franchise’s bad O-line.
While Cowherd shared that he doesn’t believe Mendoza is as good a prospect as Bears’ Caleb Williams was, he still thinks he’s great.
Talking about why the Raiders might not be the best place for Mendoza, Cowherd said:
“I don’t worry about Fernando Mendoza. I worry about the Raiders as his parent in this league,” Cowherd explained. “Bad O-line. Even if Klint Kubiak’s a good coach, he’ll be, probably, the fourth-best coach in his division. Ownership is impulsive; it’s ridiculously impatient. I don’t have a Mendoza issue. I have a Mendoza to the Raiders issue.”
Mendoza earlier expressed his gratitude for the upcoming opportunity and said it would be honor to play for the Raiders.
