“Giving Up Drinking Is a Huge Thing”: Lane Kifin’s Son Knox Expresses Pride Over LSU HC Getting Over His Alcoholism

Lane Kiffin has been one of the most controversial college football coaches in the past few months; however, his son Knox Kiffin has nothing but admiration for his dad over how far he’s come in his life.
Kiffin has three children with his ex-wife, Layla, including two daughters and one son, who is a 3-star high school quarterback with 13 college offers sitting on his table already.

During a recent interview on WAFB9 channel, Knox shared that the position Lane is in helps him a lot.

Knox also opened up about Lane, who quit alcohol in January 2021, made the brave decision to quit alcohol, and expressed pride in his dad’s resilience:

“He’s for sure just gotten a lot better in just life. You know, giving up drinking is a huge thing. Not a lot of people can do it. And just losing the weight is good for him. But he’s just becoming a better father as it’s gone. Just being there more active, like being at my games, doing all that. And just being able to be more focused and have alone time with me and have one-on-one time.“

Lane Kiffin Opens Up About Alcoholism Resulting in His Divorce

Lane Kiffin and his ex-wife Layla were married for 12 years, as they tied the knot in 2004 and then got divorced in 2016.
The two reconciled for a little while last year but are now back to co-parenting their kids.

In an interview with Vanity Fair on May 11th, Kiffin spoke about how his alcoholism resulted in his marriage being destroyed.

“My whole drive when I was younger was like, how fast can I get everything? How fast can I get the big job? The big contract?” Kiffin said. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve tried to work on that, making decisions that are more delayed gratification…I got tired of digging out of hangovers, tired of digging out of situations or things I said.”

According to the Vanity Fair article, Kiffin was victim to the habit of pounding beers before he developed a likeness towards vodka during the early years of his coaching career, which led to him having a drinking problem.
