Georgia Football Recruiting: Kirby Smart Gets Massive Win as 6’7″ OT Chooses Bulldogs Over Lane Kiffin’s LSU

After bowing out of the 2025 CFB quarterfinals with a 39-34 loss against the Ole Miss Rebels, the Georgia Bulldogs would like to go much further in the upcoming 2026 campaign.

With key players like OT Monroe Freeling and DL Christen Miller, along with a few other Georgia players now NFL-bound, head coach Kirby Smart has been tasked with recruiting apt replacements come next season.

So far, Georgia’s class of 2026 has seen some quality prospects join the Bulldogs, with a plethora of four and five-star recruits set to feature in the upcoming CFB season. But it looks like Kirby Smart isn’t stopping there, as a recent class of 2027 commit means the Georgia-based program is on its way to becoming one of the most stacked college rosters.

As per reports from CFB analyst Hayes Fawcett, four-star OT DJ Dotson has officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs after navigating some high-profile offers throughout the window. Standing at 6’7″ and 320 pounds, Dotson was also offered a place by Lane Kiffin’s LSU while also garnering offers from programs like Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Nebraska.

The Mississippi native’s demand in the CFB circuit comes on the backdrop of his stellar performances for Oak Grove High School combined with his multisport background. DJ Dotson’s father, OL Demar Dotson, has also represented the likes of the Tampa Bay and Denver Broncos in the NFL, starting in a total of 114 games over the span of 11 seasons.

RB Kemon Spell Headlines Bulldogs’ Class of 2027 Recruits

DJ Dotson’s commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs places him in an extremely loaded roster of recruits. Amongst this formidable class of prospects, five-star RB Kemon Spell leads the pack with an overall grade of 91 while also occupying the eighth spot in ESPN SC Next’s top 300 prospects list.

Alongside Spell, four-star recruits TE Jaxon Dollar and OT Kelsey Adams are a few other names that could very well go on to become integral parts of Kirby Smart’s setup in the seasons to come.
