Jon Sumrall is doing an excellent job this offseason for the Florida Gators. Over the past week, Sumrall has added four new commitments to its 2027 recruiting class. As a result, the program’s 2027 recruiting class has surged to No. 5 in 247Sports’ 2027 Recruit Football Composite Team Rankings.
Florida (240.05 points) is ahead of 2027 national title contenders Ohio State (209.99, 9th ranked) and Texas (179.06, 16th).
Florida has so far secured 14 commitments, out of which one is a five-star, nine are four stars and four are three stars. Meanwhile, Ohio State has 11 commits, with two five-stars, seven four-stars, and two three-stars. The Longhorns’ 11 commitments include one five-star player and three four-star players.
One of the biggest wins for Jon Sumrall this season was the addition of five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, who committed to Florida over national powers including Alabama, Ohio State, and Tennessee.
Florida also secured the commitment of four-star quarterback Davin Davidson out of Sarasota’s Cardinal Mooney High School.
As Florida was changing coaches, four-star athlete Tramond Collins first decommitted before recommitting after learning Sumrall is going to lead the program in 2026.
One of Sumrall’s earliest commitments was defensive back Amare Nugent. He received interest from multiple top SEC schools, but he chose to stay back in the Swamp.
Jon Surmall’s Florida Lands Another Major Offensive Option
Jon Sumrall’s Florida has secured the commitment of four-star prospect Andrew Beard as he becomes the first running back commit for the program in the 2027 recruiting class.
Coming from Georgia, Beard is the ninth-ranked running back in the nation and No. 154 overall. He was the fourth commit for Florida this week and 14th overall. He played for Prince Avenue Christian in Bogart, Georgia, in the last two seasons.
Previously, the Gators secured the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson, tackle Stive-Bentley Keumajou and safety Kailib Dillard.
The running back room of Florida will grow thin with star Jadan Baugh expected to leave for the NFL after this season, while Evan Pryor, a transfer from Cincinnati, is in the final season of his eligibility.
