EA Sports College Football 25 Ratings Predictions

We’ve looked at who could join the elusive 99 Overall Club in this year’s iteration, but have not quite gone in depth of who could be the top-rated players overall in this year’s release of the game. But not anymore.

With 134 teams to choose from, the list of potential athletes to top the charts is an arduous task. But certainly, a task we’ve had fun looking over.

Looking at the top talent across the country, several names came to mind quite easily. However, some projection from last year’s growth was also an interesting factor into our projection of top overall players.

Here we go, the early spring prediction for the top 10 rated players in EA Sports College Football 25.

1) Travis Hunter, DB/WR, Colorado

The top overall player that comes to mind is absolutely Travis Hunter. Colorado’s defensive back/wide receiver hybrid epitomizes a create-a-player from a video game already.

With top-notch ball skills at defensive back, Hunter has game-changing skills as a receiver. It’s no doubt he’ll be in the top 10 players overall, if not the highest, and has the best chance at cracking the 99 club.

2) Luther Burden, WR, Missouri

From a raw talent perspective, no player returning to college football may be more dominant at their respective position than Luther Burden. When Burden is on top of his game, few can do what he can do in the open field or with the ball in his hands.

Burden is the modern-day alpha receiver, and can win from any alignment, off any route, or against any defensive back. His overall rating will take a massive bump when you factor in Burden’s return ability that rounds out his elite skill set.

3) Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

The top quarterback on the list is Quinn Ewers. Texas’ signal-caller led the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff appearance and has them poised to make noise in their first season as a member of the SEC in 2024.

Ewers can make every throw on the field and shocked some when he stated his return to college in favor of turning pro. He’ll return to the field in Austin as the top-ranked quarterback and with as a Heisman candidate this fall.

4) Ollie Gordon, RB, Oklahoma State

The top running back is surely Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon after he dominated the back half of the 2023 season. With shifty moves and top-end speed, Gordon is a game-changing player in his own right.

Making matters even more promising for Gordon’s high rating was his consistency over the second half of last season. He had multiple high-end performances and was a legitimate Heisman candidate in 2023.

5) Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

If Travis Hunter wasn’t in play, Will Johnson would absolutely be in the conversation as the top-ranked defensive player for EA Sports College Football 25. A lockdown cornerback if there ever was a lockdown cornerback, Johnson is as sticky as they come.

Johnson will stay with receivers of any pedigree and has the elite-level athleticism to garner an incredibly high rating within the game.

6) Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

Few players saw as immense growth as a player in 2023 than Jalen Milroe. From being benched against USF early in the season to leading Alabama to the College Football Playoffs, Milroe saw a meteoric rise from October onward.

Now, Milroe enters the new era in Tuscaloosa as the unquestioned leader and one of the top quarterbacks across the country. His case as one of the top-ranked players in the video game, however, tie directly into his speed and elusiveness as a ball carrier to round out his skills.

7) Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State

Dominant since his first day on campus, Nick Singleton is a powerhouse for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He has a rare sense of contact balance to go along with his top-end speed and great vision.

All the proverbial skills a running back must possess to be highly ranked in EA Sports College 25, you better believe Singleton possesses in bunches. Singleton, however, is just one half of a dominant backfield that rivals Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson at Ohio State.

8) Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

As accurate as any quarterback across the country, Jaxson Dart proved a lot of doubters wrong a season ago. He was on schedule and ran the Ole Miss offense without any hiccups for the most part.

Dart has terrific athleticism both in the pocket and in the open field to go with an incredibly gifted arm. He’s as well-rounded as any quarterback in the nation and should certainly be one of the highest rated in the game.

9) Donovan Edwards, RB, Michigan

Taking the mantle as the proverbial bell cow in Ann Arbor, it’s Donovan Edwards time in 2024 for the Michigan Wolverines. Edwards has flashed his top-end talent in spurts, playing behind Blake Corum, but this season should be his time to shine.

He has terrific moves in the open field but what sets Edwards apart from other running backs is his pass-catching prowess. Michigan will find him in the open field at will in the passing game, and it behooves them (and Edwards) to do so.

10) Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

It’s hard to fathom the fact that it was an open battle for starting quarterback in Athens to start the year last year. And that’s solely because of how sound Carson Beck was as the Bulldogs’ signal-caller in 2023.

Now, Beck has returned to action, showing off his tremendous NIL deals in the process, and should continue his ascension among the ranks in 2024. Beck has a ton of talent with his arm and perhaps has some of the best field vision in the nation.
