Drew Allar is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Allar played for the Penn State Nittany Lions during his college stint. He joined the program in 2022 and was a starting quarterback in the last three seasons.
Allar’s final season with the Nittany Lions was cut short after he suffered a season ending ankle injury in October. He played just six games, finishing with 1100 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Despite the setback, Allar’s draft stock didn’t take a big hit. He had entered the 2025 season as one of the Heisman favorites, and that reputation is intact till now. Several teams are reportedly interested in signing him.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans are sold on the idea already. They are monitoring his every move, down to who he is following on social media.
“Drew Allar Just followed Dk Metcalf and Will Howard on Instagram,” a fan wrote.
Wide receiver DK Metcalf joined the Steelers last season, and Will Howard, quarterback, was the sixth round, 185th overall pick in the 2025 Draft by the $6.5 billion worth franchise. Fans are trying to connect the dots in the hope of seeing the Penn State star with the Steelers.
The Pittsburgh franchise has several options at the quarterback position. The biggest name that they can possibly have running their offense would be Aaron Rodgers. It’s unclear if Rodgers will extend his run with the Steelers this year.
If Rodgers decides to play another season in the league, it’s nearly guaranteed to be with the Steelers. His decision could have an impact on who the Steelers would pick in the draft.
Drew Allar Had a Tough Meeting with Mike McCarthy
Allar made waves at the Draft Combine. On Saturday, he got to show his skills in front of NFL teams, and he has made a good impression. During his throwing session, Allar showed what his arm talent is capable of.
One of the highlights for the 21-year-old was meeting the Steelers head coach, Mike McCarthy. He said McCarthy was his toughest meeting.
“Coach McCarthy with the Steelers,” Allar said. “But we weren’t necessarily up at the board [drawing plays]. I was explaining a lot of our protections and a couple of concepts he was asking me about. It was really fun. Those are the conversations I love.”
Allar said that he loves talking about football and learning as much as he can. So it can’t get better than having a conversation with McCarthy.
