Dillon Thieneman has worked for the past three seasons to carve a respectable draft profile for NFL scouts. Now, it is time to learn just how well he did. Many draft analysts believe him to be the top safety prospect in the class.
However, as a safety, he could slide into the 10s or 20s. Still, plenty of premium landing spots make sense at that time. Here’s a look at three landing spots for the Oregon Ducks star.
Potential Landing Spots for Dillon Thieneman
#3 – Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals notoriously fell apart defensively in 2025, leaving a desperate need to refill the secondary with players with untapped potential. Dillon Thieneman could be that option. With the Cardinals rumored to be all-in on Jacoby Brissett this season, a trade down from No. 3 makes sense.
The blockbuster trade with a team in the 10s could set up Arizona to be in the window for Thieneman. Of course, as a former player for the Oregon Ducks, the result would keep the safety in the same western half of the country, which might be a win-win for the safety.
#2 – Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have historically been a defensive franchise and adding Dillon Thieneman would be in line with the team’s construction. With just three safeties on the roster, it appears the team has already made room for the addition of another. Many analysts have noticed, including Mike Renner of CBS Sports.
With another safety incoming, the odds are far from zero that it will be Thieneman, who made his case as a first-round pick with three seasons of at least 95 tackles and one season with six interceptions.
#1 – Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have one set of needs going into the NFL draft: defense. The team’s offense is essentially done, so picking anything other than a group of defensive rookies might spark a riot from Cowboys fans.
Dallas finished at or near the bottom of the league in several defensive categories. Plus, the franchise has two first-round picks between No. 10 and No. 20, which is right around where the safety is likely to be selected. Put simply, the odds are high.
