Darian Mensah and the Duke Blue Devils have reached a settlement, clearing the way for the quarterback to enter the transfer portal. The dispute started after Mensah requested to enter the transfer portal, which Duke responded to by filing a lawsuit alleging that the quarterback broke the contract. However, both have reached a settlement outside the court, and a preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled this Thursday.
Before that, let’s take a look at potential landing spots for the quarterback.
Top 3 Landing Spots for Duke QB Darian Mensah
1) Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have become the top landing spot after Darian Mensah cleared his lawsuit with the Blue Devils. With Carson Beck leaving following a run to the national championship game, the Canes will need a premier QB with eligibility left.
In 2025, Mensah led Duke to the ACC Championship, throwing 3,973 yards, 34 touchdowns and six interceptions. Joining Miami will allow Mensah to stay in ACC and continue to show his power in the conference he just won.
2) Ole Miss Rebels
If Darian Mensah is looking to become part of an even more challenging conference, then Ole Miss of the SEC could be a destination. The program lost Lane Kiffin as head coach after the regular season, but despite that, they reached the College Football Playoff semifinal.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’ eligibility has exhausted pending an extra waiver appeal. This means the Rebels will need a quarterback who could lead the side to the playoffs again and Mensah can be their guy.
3) Tennessee Volunteers
Another SEC program that will enter the 2026 season with a lot to prove is the Tennessee Volunteers. Darian Mensah could be a perfect fit for Josh Heupel’s offense that struggled with their passing game in 2025.
Tennessee can’t make plays without having a quarterback making their plans play on the field. Mensah is the kind of quarterback who can complete several passes without turning over the ball. This will help Tennessee help better rather than switching to an uncertain running game.
