Duke quarterback Darian Mensah and the university have reportedly reached an agreement to settle their legal dispute out of court. The Blue Devils had sued Mensah last week over his attempt to transfer, claiming that the QB signed a two-season contract with the school in 2025.
However, Mensah, who has been linked with a transfer to Miami, and Duke, agreed to a settlement two days before a court hearing in Durham.
When fans found out that Mensah and Duke came to a settlement, they had some interesting reactions.
“There it is. Miami has a new QB and Duke is dead again,” one tweeted.
“I’m rooting against him now and if I were a coach I’d tell potential transfers coming in that if they work with that agency they are ending all communication with that player and move along,” another added.
“I said this will be the case from the get go. Very damaging to the future of the sport!” a third commented.
Here are a few more reactions.
“NIL and paying players is ruining college sports. I’m not wrong,” one wrote.
“Sounds like one of his homies got on chat gpt and had it write this out so we don’t know how retarded they are… college football is a joke man… wtf…,” another added.
“What has college football come to?” a user tweeted.
Miami made it to the national title game in the 2025 season, but lost to Indiana at the final hurdle. The Hurricanes reportedly want Mensah to replace Carson Beck, who is entering the NFL draft this year.
