“Over Time It’ll Catch Up to You”: Shedeur Sanders Delivers Blunt Advice to Colorado Recruits

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders offered a candid lesson about quarterback play to Colorado recruits. Speaking to the young quarterbacks, Sanders explained how a lack of precision from receivers can create problems that eventually hurt a quarterback’s development.

“What I’m thinking is, if you chose to go to this side and you didn’t choose to play up top, right? Then I’m thinking like, you’ll be stuck with the ball in your hand. Now you’re getting hit, and somebody is not doing what they’re supposed to do. You know what I’m saying? So you can’t anticipate anything. You can’t play in rhythm, because obviously, you could beat the pressure by playing in rhythm.” he said.

The Browns quarterback stressed that quarterbacks cannot consistently operate in rhythm if receivers fail to be in the right spots.

“If you don’t know what route he’s running, or if it’s a horrible route, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Like, you may have success doing it right now, but over time, it’s going to catch up to you when it catches up.” – he added.

“I think you’ve got to be disciplined on the receiver. At least get them in the right spots, because then your feet will tie up to that.”

Following Shedeur’s departure to the NFL, the Buffaloes are looking for their next long-term player to fill the quarterback role, and Julian Lewis is among the players expected to compete for this.

Deion Sanders Ranked Near Bottom in Big 12 Head Coach Rankings

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was ranked No. 15 in the latest Big 12 head coach ranking compiled by reporter Brett McMurphy of the On3. Only first-year Kansas State head coach Collin Klein was placed below Sanders, and the first two spots were taken by Kalani Sitake, and Kenny Dillingham in the 16-team conference rankings.

The ranking came as a surprise for Colorado fans given Sanders’ impact on the program since arriving in Boulder. The Buffaloes hold a 16-21 record under his leadership.

With a new season approaching and a revamped roster taking shape, Deion Sander will have the opportunity to change the narrative. In the meantime, Shedeur Sanders appears focused on helping the program’s young quarterbacks avoid mistakes he believes can derail success before it even starts.
