Jeremiah Smith Reacts as Close Friend Commits to ACC Team Out of Transfer Portal

Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith recently commented on a major transfer portal news. Joshisa Trader, the former Miami Hurricanes wide receiver, had entered the transfer portal.

After assessing his options, he recently finalized his decision, and he’s going to take his talent to NC State. The 20-year-old is among the top-ranked receivers in his class and was a highly touted prospect in the portal.

Before starting his collegiate career with Miami, Trader played for the Chaminade–Madonna College Preparatory High School. That’s the same school that Jeremiah Smith attended before he joined the Ohio State Buckeyes.

“BREAKING: NC State football has landed another commit in Miami transfer wideout Joshisa “Jojo” Trader out of the portal. CJ Bailey’s high school teammate finished with 13 receptions for 178 yards with one TD last season,” PackPower247 reported.

Buckeyes wide receiver responded to the news with a simple crossed fingers emoji, showing support for his friend over his recent career decision.

Over the last two years, Trader played 18 games for the Hurricanes and recorded 19 career catches for 269 and two scores. His first career start was in the 2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl against Iowa State.

Trader had three catches for 61 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown catch in that game. Trader was a five-star rated prospect by ESPN and the number five receiver in the country. Landing him is expected to be a big boost for NC State.

The biggest advantage for NC State is that he has two years of eligibility remaining. So, NC State gets an experienced wide receiver who can offer two great years for them.

    Jeremiah Smith on His Popularity

Smith has become a star over the last two years. His popularity isn’t just restricted to Ohio State; he has become a household name across the country and is also generating major buzz for the Heisman trophy and his eventual NFL prospects.

With that popularity, it has become difficult for Smith to be a regular college-going kid. During an interaction with the Ohio State Alumni Magazine, he was asked what it’s like for him to go out in public.

“I can’t go certain places by myself. When I do go out, I know I’m going to get bombarded with pictures and autographs. I just try to plan before I go out somewhere. I wear hats, beanies, anything to try to disguise who I am, but people still figure out it’s me. People follow me around. It’s pretty hectic, but I know it’s a blessing,” he said.

Smith already understands that people coming up to him for pictures and autographs are fans of what he does on the field. It’s a great mindset to have for someone who is destined for greatness.
