To everyone’s surprise, Oregon’s quarterback Dante Moore announced that he’s returning for a final season of college football in 2026. This surprised everyone in the world of football, because Moore was expected to be the second overall in this year’s NFL Draft. On top of that, the Ducks recently got a commitment from Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola, a seasoned signal-caller.
That’s where the minds of many fans went, who took to X to wonder what Moore’s decision means for Raiola’s future.
“Raiola retransfer incoming,” pointed out someone
“Wow… Dylan Raiola sitting a year??,” asked one fan
“Mahomes Jr. is cooked,” said someone referencing Dylan Raiola
Could it be that Moore didn’t want to end up with the Jets? He did get a warning from Stephen A. Smith not to declare for the NFL Draft.
“Dante Moore saw the Jets with the 2nd overall pick and said “Nah, fuck that”😂,” joked another
“Get 6 million to stay in college and avoid playing for the Jets… seems like an easy choice to me…,” explained someone else
“Jets will be back next year,” claimed another individual
“Good, I’m sure he didn’t want to play for the jets,” wrote one fan
Some Big Ten fans gave their stamp of approval.
“From a Hoosier fan here, smart move. He showcased a lot of talent, composure & potential in the Peach Bowl. Plus, will be nice to see more Moore in the Big Ten next year!,” celebrated one person
What Dante Moore’s Return Means for Oregon Next Season
The news probably caught even Dan Lanning by surprise, who now has two starter-caliber quarterbacks on his roster. The first thing that we’ll need to see is if this makes Dylan Raiola turn back on his commitment to the Oregon Ducks. It’s unlikely that he will receive an opportunity to start next season, while Dante Moore is on the team. Is Raiola willing to sit out one season, maybe take a red shirt, to start later on in one of the best teams in the nation?
Lanning’s reaction to the issue was muted, but seemingly excited, with the coach simply posting the image of a duck emoji to his X account. He now has to decide whether this is a good problem to have, or if the distraction of having Raiola on the bench would be too big for the team.
