ESPN’s analyst Dan Orlovsky believes that Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love is one of the top, if not the top, offensive weapons on offer this 2026 NFL Draft. In an episode of Get Up this week, Orlovsky compared him to Jahmyr Gibbs in terms of ability, but also pointed out that he has the room to become a much better player.
He said the following about how Love is set to be so much more than a simple running back:
“We have to stop saying Jeremiyah Love ‘running back.’ Jeremiyah Love instant offense. Weapon. Football player.”
He also listed the reasons why he believes that Jeremiyah Love will be a more complete player than Detroit Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs. He pointed out that Love is 15 pounds heavier, three inches taller, and as fast as Gibbs. Love listed the same 40-yard dash time as Gibbs did in the NFL Combine, 4.36 seconds.
“As fast as Gibbs, 15lbs heavier, 3 inches taller,” wrote Orlovsky on X
This is why Orlovsky predicts that Love will be picked higher in the 2026 NFL Draft than Gibbs was in the 2023 draft. In particular, the No. 8 pick held by the New Orleans Saints looks like a place where Love could be picked, with the Louisiana franchise being on the lookout for a new running back.
Ben Standig Thinks the Washington Commanders Might Take Jeremiyah Love at No. 7
Washington Commanders insider Ben Standig believes the D.C. franchise might act boldly in the NFL Draft and use the No. 7 pick on the Notre Dame standout tailback. He admits that it’s not normal to take a running back so high in the NFL Draft, but that in this current draft, it might make sense for them:
“[The Commanders] landed on an option that I’m holding my nose to a degree, and yet simultaneously I’m pretty excited, and that’s Jeremiyah Love, the running back from Notre Dame,” Standig saidduring a March 20 appearance on The Team 980.
“I just do not like taking running backs this high. I don’t think a lot of teams do, but this is a weird year where, you know, the top of the draft is a little softer than usual. You’ve got other players who play a position that are not typically going to get picked this high.”
What’s plenty clear is that there are several top 10 teams interested in taking the running back. It’s unlikely that he will fall all the way down to No. 12 for the Dallas Cowboys to pick him.
