Curt Cignetti’s Daughter Shares Family Moment as Indiana HC Continues Celebrations

It’s been a week since Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers won the national title against the Miami Hurricanes. Cignetti and Co. is still busy doing their victory lap. The players are making public appearances, and the coach is busy spending time with his family.

When Cignetti joined Indiana in 2024, they were a struggling team. They had finished their last season with a 1-8 record in the conference and 3-9 overall. The Hoosiers sat at the bottom of the table.

Cignetti had over a decade of experience as a head coach. Still, no one thought he’d be able to turn things around so quickly. In his first season, the Hoosiers finished second in the B1G with an 11-2 overall record.

That was the early sign of Indiana’s dominant run that took place this season. The Hoosiers went on an unbeaten run, remaining 16-0 and emerging as the national title winners. Cignetti changed how people viewed the program in just two years.

After giving Indiana arguably their best season, Cignetti is now enjoying time with his family. His daughter, Natalie Cignetti, recently posted a family picture on X where everyone can be seen wearing the championship hats.

“What it’s all about,” she wrote.

This was Cignetti’s first national title win as well. The last two seasons with Indiana have added a lot of value to his name. Going into the next season of college football, no one would make the mistake of underestimating Cignetti or his team.

Cignetti’s approach toward football started taking shape at an early age as his father was a football coach as well. The Indiana coach implemented a lot of his father’s philosophies in his own methods, and it has worked well so far for him.

Curt Cignetti on His Father’s Influence

Frank Cignetti Sr. was a legendary program builder and a highly revered coach. He was known for his work at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Growing up, Cignetti picked up the discipline from his father very early in his life.

During the CFP media day, Cignetti talked about the impact his father had on his life and how his lessons shaped him as a coach.

“My dad was a great role model growing up. I was the oldest of four, and he led by example. He had a presence about him, and he had great work ethic, disciplined commitment,” he said.

“Back then…grew up western PA, everybody worked in the mill or the mines, and he went to college and became an assistant at Pitt, Princeton, West Virginia for Bobby Bowden, became the head coach (at West Virginia), and then came down with cancer my senior year of high school and was given his last rites twice.”

Even though Frank wasn’t able to finish what he had started, he gave Cignetti the key to success as a football coach.
