Curt Cignetti wrote himself into the Indiana history books by leading the Hoosiers to the national championship last season. While his accolades on the football field speak for themselves, he will now have something else to brag about.
Cignetti has been chosen to drive in the famed Indy 500 pace car. A dream for many, it seems Cignetti is just as much of an adrenaline junkie as a football coach, jumping at the opportunity to take part in what has become an Indianapolis staple.
He dropped a four-word comment on X, expressing excitement for the opportunity.
“Hoosiers lead the way,” Cignetti wrote about his upcoming moment in the 2026 Indy 500 pace car.
What’s interesting is that Cignetti joins legends such as Jim Harbaugh, Josh Duhamel and Chuck Yeager in being bestowed with the honor of driving in the famed car.
Curt Cignetti Gearing Up for Big Moment
As the once-in-a-lifetime chance approaches, Curt Cignetti could be seen enjoying the moment but also wary of the challenges that come with being in a car built for speed.
Cignetti took the chance to drive the car himself alongside IndyCar legend Sarah Fisher, and it’s safe to say he enjoyed the appetizer. The car is a luxurious Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, making this a truly exciting moment.
There is no doubt that this will be an unforgettable experience for the head coach and indeed for all the Indiana fans who will likely flock to the circuit to see this special moment in action.
