“[Malachi] Toney Over Trinidad Chambliss?”: Fans React As Miami WR Joins Kewan Lacy And Dante Moore On EA CFB 27 Cover

It’s that time of the year again for College Football 27 (CFB 27) fans and those who enjoy learning about the upcoming video game slate. Hours before the Sony State of Play, which many expect to be the company’s de facto E3 press conference, EA Sports revealed the cover of College Football 27.

The cover was revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday from the official account. The main cover features three players, including Malachi Toney, Dante Moore, and Kewan Lacy. All names were top-shelf, active players not expected to join the NFL in 2026.

“THE CFB 27 COVERS ARE REVEALED 🔥Kewan Lacy, Malachi Toney and Dante Moore grace the cover, with Coach Cignetti headlining the Deluxe Edition,” the post’s caption read.

Fans reacted to the reveal in droves, with many asking questions and raising concerns.

“Why is Toney on here over Trinidad Chambliss?” one asked.

“1 natty combined this century from these 3 teams 😤,” another noted.

“Not having Jeremiah Smith on the cover is crazy work to me,” one replied.

Other fans enjoyed the cover, but more questions remained.

“The Deluxe edition cover is literally tuff idk why yall talking about 😂,” one posted.

“Why is the standard version better this year than the deluxe,” another questioned.

“One of the best covers oat? 🔥,” one asked.

Two different covers were revealed. The first standard cover had the three players, but the deluxe edition had many more, including Indiana Hoosiers star coach Curt Cignetti. Behind Cignetti are many players from many different schools. Fans can try to identify the players.

However, one tacit statement by the company with regard to the different editions appears to be that buying the different editions offers different access to viewing the players on each cover. The standard edition doesn’t feature a single face, while the deluxe edition doesn’t feature a single helmet.

In other words, fans who want to see the faces of the players on the box art must buy the more expensive version.

What We Know About Price and Release Date

We are at the beginning of the marketing cycle for College Football 27, which means most of the core information is still behind the curtain. However, according to the official EA Sports press release on Tuesday, the game will launch shortly after the 4th of July on July 9.

The full game reveal is set to take place on Thursday, right in the middle of the week’s run of video game reveals that have replaced E3.

If the game is set to cost the same as College Football 26, fans can expect to pay $69.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the full game.
