“There’d Be Massive Negative PR”;”Making Mockery Of Himself” – Trevor Bauer Trolled By Fans After Offering $0 Salary Deal To MLB Teams

Former Cy Young pitcher Trevor Bauer recently put out a request that he is ready to sign with a major league team for $0. Yes, you heard it right, for $0.

Bauer has been away from MLB ever since he was accused of multiple sexual assault allegations. He last played for the LA Dodgers in June 2021. Even though all the lawsuits against him are settled, he still has no suitors in MLB. In the meantime, he has played in professional leagues in Japan and the Dominican Republic. Last season, he was ready to sign a veteran minimum contract.

Taking to X, Bauer wrote to all MLB teams, offering to take “$0 salary and sign a minor league contract and go to Low A.” All Bauer wants is an opportunity. He clearly stated that “if he sucks,” it is a “clubhouse cancer,” and there’s “massive negative PR,” the MLB team can cut him loose.

In hindsight, he wants the MLB team to evaluate him on the basis of his Low A performance, promote him to AA and AAA before potentially getting a call for the major league roster. If at any point, he doesn’t do well, he asks the club to cut him loose, while adding that there will be zero risk in doing so. He doesn’t care if you take away his social media and all “antics” he involves himself in; he wants one more chance in the majors.

Bauer’s latest remark became a subject of jokes among fans, with many asking him to just sleep off on the dream of returning to the majors.

“The small silver lining of this guy’s story is that he’s stuck making a mockery of himself,” one fan joked.

“There would be massive negative PR. What are you talking about,” another reacted.

“YouTuber with a 4.51 ERA in the NPB last year still begging for a job,” one fan wrote.

“Bro is having a hard time dealing with the word ‘No’, imagine that,” another commented.

“We always debate about whether top-tier Japanese players are capable of making the jump to MLB, and here comes last year’s worst-qualified pitcher in the NPB begging for a contract,” one fan noted.

“This will never happen. First of all, no team wants to sign him. Secondly, no player is allowed to play for $0. And finally, no team wants to sign him,” one fan made it clear.

Trevor Bauer Had a Bad NPB Season

Ever since Trevor Bauer’s MLB suspension of close to just over 190 games was over in 2023, the former Cincinnati Reds pitcher has been aiming to get back into the majors. For the last three years, whenever it’s near a trade deadline or on the onset of the offseason, the right-hander continues to take to social media to make his case.

Even though there were times when it seemed like Bauer’s return could make sense, given his stats, last year was a disaster for the former Cy Young pitcher.

The 35-year-old pitcher had a disappointing 2025 season with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, finishing the 2025 season with a 4-10 record, a 4.51 ERA, and 119 strikeouts in 21 appearances and 133.2 innings pitched.

Those numbers are pretty bad given the fact that NPB is generally a lower-scoring league, and Bauer’s ERA ranked among the worst for qualified starters.
