“$765 Million & Juan Soto Can’t Catch A Fly Ball” –  Fans Rip Into Mets Superstar After Routine Fielding Error In Red Sox Loss

Mets star outfielder Juan Soto became a major topic of discussion after the team’s recent home loss to the Red Sox on Friday night. Although Soto went 1 for 3 and recorded an RBI, it was his fielding error in the first inning, dropping a routine fly ball in left field, that drew fan attention.

Soto’s casual demeanor in the outfield was visible to home fans inside Citi Field, which indirectly helped the Red Sox take a 2-0 lead in the opening inning.

Here is a video of the incident:

Fans were quick to share their reactions to the viral moment, with many taking a sly dig at his reported contract value after the fielding error.

Soto is having an outstanding season at the plate, emerging as the Mets’ only major star amid the team’s struggles. His steady hitting has earned him an All-Star selection, an honor the 27-year-old Dominican is not taking for granted after missing out on recognition last season.

Speaking to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Soto reflected on his achievements in the current campaign and expressed gratitude to fans and the coaching staff for believing in his talents, which have led to him earning his fifth All-Star nod of his professional baseball career.

“With any team that I made it, it’s always an unbelievable experience, and I’m expecting to have the same thing here. Definitely, I’ve been in the AL and now in the NL again. I think it’s going to be great… It’s always a lot of gratitude for me. I just fell short last year. Definitely, it motivated me. I’ve got to be better. I’ve got to be better to be with the best of the best in the league. This year, I came in with a different mentality, and thank God I made it,” Soto said.

Despite Soto’s solid performance at the plate, the Mets are facing significant challenges in building winning momentum this season. They currently hold a 40-55 record, placing them at the bottom of the NL East division and 15 games below a .500 winning percentage.
