“This Is Laughable”;”Soft as S**t” – NC State, North Carolina A&T’s Mutual Cancellation Agreement Angers College Baseball Fans

The much-anticipated one-time match between the NC State Wolfpack and the North Carolina A&T Aggies was canceled on Monday after the home team issued an official social media statement. The game, scheduled for Tuesday at Doak Field at Dail Park in Raleigh, NC, was called off after both sides reached a mutual agreement.

The official announcement also mentioned that the Wolfpack will head to Stanford, CA, for a three-game conference series against the Cardinal beginning May 8. NC State competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is currently eighth in the standings with a 12-12 record, while its overall season record is 30-17.

Fans were quick to share their reactions to the game cancellation announcement, with many feeling disappointed by the decision.

“This is embarrassing,” one fan commented.

“This is so laughable, if someone did this in college basketball or football they would never hear the end of it from national media, but since it’s college baseball no one will care and so many other teams will do this,” another fan commented.

“Soft as s—. Don’t schedule like a dumba– if you’re going to back out,” yet another fan commented.

Some other fans voiced their angst over poorly planned scheduling, potentially to improve their RPI. One fan even called out the NCAA to penalize both teams for forfeiting the match.

“Really hate that it has to come to this. We can come up with something better than RPI, can’t we?” one fan commented.

“Mutually agreed upon = State agreed to write a big check to A&T and A&T agreed to cash said check,” another fan commented.

“This needs to start being recognized as a forfeit by the committee. If both teams agree they both should carry a loss. This is not a dig at NC State either, plenty of love for that program, but this RPI-maxxing form of college baseball will kill the sport,” yet another fan commented.

NC State to Play Their Last Home Series of the ACC Against the Tar Heels

After the three-game series against the Cardinal, the Wolfpack will return home to play their last regular-season home series in the ACC before the conference championship takes place in Charlotte, NC, from May 19-24.

The final home series will be against the North Carolina Tar Heels, who are currently second in the conference standings with a 17-7 record and an overall season record of 37-9-1. This will be the first matchup between the two well-known ACC baseball programs, with the Wolfpack urgently needing a win to improve their chances for the conference championship.
