Bo Bichette has opted to spend and creating bonds with new teammates after signing a three-year deal with the New York Mets, instead of participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic for Team Brazil. However, his brother Dante Bichette Jr. is participating and representing Brazil.
Dante arrived at Daikin Park in Houston, shining in Brazil themed look. He had his hair dyed green to best represent his interests in the 2026 WBC. When asked about his look, Dante shared the reason.
“Well, green is one of the prominent colors for Brazil,” Dante said. “It’s my favorite color on the flag. Last year I did yellow. There was blue last year too, but you couldn’t really see it because of my hat. Green is such a beautiful color, colorful. It is supposed to just be an act of self-representation.
“This is a stage where you get to really shine. You get to be yourself here. That’s the thing that the Major League Baseball players love most about the Classic, is you get to let your light out fully. That’s basically what I’m doing here. I mean, the hair is just hair, but at the same time, it’s cool to look at. The little kids love it and fans love it. So yeah, that’s what it’s all about.”
Bo Bichette’s brother Comes Short Against Team USA
It was a slugfest on Friday at Daikin Park where Team USA and Brazil locked horns for their pool stage game. Team USA won the game 15-5. Aaron Judge was the only player to homer for the home side, while for Brazil, Lucas Ramirez hit two long shots and lefty hitter Victor Mascai also hit one.
As for Bo Bichette’s brother Dante Bichette Jr., he played in the spot of designated hitter, going hitless in three plate appearances, excluding one walk. He was later replaced by pinch-hitter Felipe Koragi.
Brazil will next play Italy on Saturday, while Team USA will take on Great Britain.
