During a recent Q&A session inspired by Google’s top searches, Alabama Crimson Tide rising star Jaylen Mbakwe shared various aspects. Originally recruited as a defensive back, the Clay-Chalkville High School alum now contributes as a wide receiver.
Standing 5’11” and weighing 170 lbs, Mbakwe showcased his athleticism in his freshman season with 15 tackles, 1 interception, and 46 punt return yards. Known for his exceptional speed, he boasts a blazing 10.46-second 100-meter dash time, solidifying his reputation as one of Alabama’s most dynamic athletes.

Alabama football standout Jaylen Mbakwe recently participated in a Q&A inspired by Google’s most-searched questions. When asked if he’d join America’s Got Talent or The Voice, Mbakwe confidently chose the former.
“I got some secret talents.”
On rumors connecting him to Travis Hunter:
“We’re not related. I wish we were… That’s a freak of nature right there,” Mbakwe clarified.
Addressing his social life:
“Yeah man, I got friends… I’m not a loner,” he joked.
Mbakwe revealed his middle name is Deuce, credited his sister Micah as his stylist, and dismissed tattoo rumors with Ryan Williams.
“Nah, bruh, we don’t got no matching tattoos,” Mbakwe shared.
As for his recent switch to wide receiver:
“Just wanted to get the ball in my hands… I’m still a DB at heart,” he said.
He also touched on his signature pregame handshake but kept its meaning a mystery.
“Big meaning behind it — has to stay secret to them,” he explained.
Reflecting on his high school days at Clay-Chalkville High School:
“Y’all know who I beat my senior year in the state championship,” Mbakwe teased, leaving the details to the fans’ imagination.
In high school, Mbakwe played quarterback at Clay-Chalkville, rushing for 1,065 yards and 23 touchdowns while throwing for 2,007 yards and 20 scores. He earned MVP honors in the 6A state championship after totaling 282 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Saraland and now-teammate Ryan Williams.
