“Good Riddance, Now Get Our Money Back”: CFB World Reacts as Tennessee Parts Ways With Former Penn State EDGE Chaz Coleman

Chaz Coleman’s ceiling seemed high heading into his college career, leading the Tennessee Volunteers to believe they might have gotten a diamond in the rough when Coleman transferred. However, injuries have become part of Coleman’s story, and they appear to have cost the pass rusher his tenure with the team.

The Vols “medically disqualified” Coleman, bringing his time with the team to a close, according to Pete Nakos via Vol Scoops in a Friday post on X.

“Penn State transfer EDGE Chaz Coleman has been dismissed from the Tennessee Football Program 🤯 Coleman has been ‘medically disqualified’ from the Vols roster, per Pete Nakos,” the report read.

Fans responded to the post in droves, dumping criticism on the pass rusher and slamming the door on him on the way out.

More fans continued to heap criticism on the pass rusher and accuse him of only extending his career long enough to get a payday. Fans also credited Josh Huepel for playing a part in the decision.

Coleman earned one sack, three tackles for loss, eight total tackles, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in his freshman season for Penn State in 2025.

Investigating Potential Landing Spots for Chaz Coleman

While Chaz Coleman has been medically disqualified from playing for the Tennessee Volunteers, he can still play college football this season. If Coleman can get healthy and ready to play once again, he may have more options.

Penn State and the Volunteers are logically out, but he received interest from many other programs when he was transitioning out of high school, according to 247 Sports.

One team that might be at the top of the list is Ohio State. Coleman received an offer from the Buckeyes on Nov. 20, 2024, and the pass rusher visited the school on Nov. 30, 10 days later.

Before Ohio State, Coleman had visited the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 25, 2024. It was the first official visit, but he had visited the program previously on Sept. 7.

If he can get back to a place where he’s ready to contribute to a program, will Coleman revisit his prior options, and will either school welcome him with open arms?
