As USC Trojans guard JuJu Watkins went through her injury recovery process, freshman Jazzy Davidson held the fort down. In her first year of college basketball, Davidson spearheaded the Trojans’ offense. She averaged a team-high 17.9 points, to go along with 5.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in around 34.5 minutes per contest. And now, she will finally share the court with Watkins in her sophomore stint.
Watkins has been nursing a torn ACL injury for over a year now, but she is expected to return to playing in the 2026-27 campaign. Throughout this offseason, it’s been documented that Watkins has been practicing again with the Trojans. For the first time, Watkins will play with Davidson. In a Tuesday report by USC insider Shotgun Spratling on X/Twitter, Davidson made her feelings clear on playing with Watkins.
“Just seeing her on the court and move around is just surreal to see. Getting to go through drills with her is really exciting,” Davidson was quoted as saying.

Watkins missed the 2025-26 season due to her torn ACL, which she suffered in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. From the sidelines, she cheered on USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb’s squad, which reached just the second round of this year’s national tournament without her.
Jazzy Davidson said that JuJu Watkins elevates her teammates to be better
During a media availability on Tuesday, Jazzy Davidson, alongside fellow USC Trojans standouts Kennedy Smith and Saniyah Hall, were all asked what it means to play with JuJu Watkins. When it was Davidson’s time to answer, she detailed that Watkins has a unique trait.
“ I think something that’s super special about her is obviously she’s an amazing individual player, but she also elevates everybody around her. And, I think when you have someone like that on your team, it’s super special, and it’s kind of an intangible that’s not very common. So, I would say that,” Davidson said (Timestamp: 0:23).
