    UConn Fans Bid Goodbye as Tina Charles Announces Retirement

    WNBA legend Tina Charles has officially announced her retirement from the sport of basketball after an incredible run at the top of the women’s game.

    Charles’ career is best remembered for her several accolades at the WNBA level, but her college career is equally if not even more impressive.

    The 37-year-old is a two-time NCAA Champion with the UConn Huskies, and was a very major part of the college program’s history, continuing to remain in the hearts and minds of every UConn fan today.

    So it should come as no surprise that fans rushed to congratulate and bid goodbye to one of their own as she called time on a wonderful career spanning almost two decades.

    Tina Charles Turned Into a WNBA Icon

    Following her selection at the 2010 WNBA Draft, Charles kicked into a higher gear at the Connecticut Sun, leading her to become the WNBA MVP in 2012, a major milestone in her career.

    She would go on to spend many years in the top flight and abroad before returning to the Sun for a last hoorah in 2025, now announcing her retirement at the age of 37.
