It is safe to say that Dawn Staley’s South Carolina has the number of Kim Mulkey’s LSU, as the Gamecocks defeated the Tigers once again, this time during the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. It was still a close and competitive game, with a final score of 83-77, but that does not change the fact that LSU has now lost 19 straight games to its women’s basketball rivals.
This losing streak has frustrated many fans, including renowned rapper Boosie Badazz, a native of Baton Rouge, who is a massive LSU super fan. Worth $2 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, and known for singles like “Zoom,” “Wipe Me Down” and “Better Believe It,” the rapper took to social media to voice his frustrations about his favorite team constantly losing to South Carolina in women’s basketball.
“IM SO TIRED OF SOUTH CAROLINA BEATING US ‼️” the rapper said in all-caps.
LSU actually led the game at halftime, but South Carolina managed to claw back the lead, with the game being close throughout. This is now also the seventh straight time that Kim Mulkey has lost to Dawn Staley, with the Tigers also losing to the Gamecocks in the regular season during their 2023 national championship run that was led by star power forward Angel Reese, who is now with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
The Tigers had been aggressive during the game, outscoring the Gamecocks and winning the rebounding battle during the first half. However, Dawn Staley adjusted as usual and turned the pressure up.
“I just thought we just held on until we could get to halftime, talk about things,” Staley said. “I felt good. I felt our players were right there. When we came out in the third quarter, we made a run, took the lead. Then it was back and forth. But I thought our kids were really resilient.”
Kim Mulkey Felt LSU Players Did Not Do “Little Things” Enough During Loss to South Carolina
After the game, Kim Mulkey pointed out that her players did not do everything that they could to finally beat South Carolina. She noted that they could not do the “little things” that mattered. When asked what these things are, here is what she said:
“Look at the stat sheet, how similar,” Mulkey said. “Look at the stat sheet. So what are those little things? Maybe that one last tough rebound. Maybe that one last tough defensive presence.”
For now, LSU will be looking to prepare for March Madness and bounce back from yet another loss to the Gamecocks.
