Sarah Strong’s Mom Allison Feaster Celebrates Huskies’ Elite Eight Win With Heartwarming Message

Sarah Strong and the UConn Huskies are having the season of their lives, and they have advanced to the Final Four round of the NCAA Tournament after ending the Cinderella run of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 70-52 in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

Someone who was there at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, to see the UConn Huskies’ victory was Strong’s mother, Allison Feaster, who is a basketball legend in her own right, having set Ivy League records with Harvard in the 1990s.

She would go on to be a WNBA All-Star in the 2000s, in a career that saw her play with the Los Angeles Sparks, the Charlotte Sting, and the Indiana Fever between 1998 and 2008. She’s currently an executive with the NBA’s Boston Celtics.

She celebrated her daughter’s win by posting a picture of herself with other Husky moms during the Elite Eight, to which she added the following caption:

“Basketball made me a big sister”

Strong once more led the Huskies in scoring during the Elite Eight, recording 21 points in 39 minutes against the Fighting Irish at Dickies Arena. She also recorded seven rebounds and one assist.

Sarah Strong’s Speech to Her Teammates During the Sweet 16 Game Against North Carolina

The first half of the Sweet 16 game between UConn and North Carolina was uncharacteristically low scoring for the Hukies, with just 28 points, despite the fact that they were up eight points over the Tar Heels. However, if you know Geno Auriemma’s team, you know that they hold themselves to a higher standard.

So, at halftime of the game, something unexpected happened. Strong is known to be a player of few words, but that day she decided to stand up and rally her teammates to a stronger performance. Speaking about the moment in the game’s aftermath, she said:

“I was just saying, if we play our game, then they can’t do anything about it,”‘ said Strong. “Just kind of reiterating what Coach said, ‘Just take a breath and play our game.’ … I’m not gonna be the one to talk and say the most things, but I’ll say something here and there, and I feel like it’s pretty impactful when I do, but I just try to show on the court and lead by example. “

During the second half of the game, the team scored 35 points overall, and they finished the game with a 63-42 victory. For her part, Strong contributed 21 points to UConn’s cause in the Sweet 16.
