With Selection Sunday behind us, the full NCAA Tournament bracket is known, and players are excited. Among them is South Carolina point guard Raven Johnson, who will be leading the Gamecocks, one of the four No. 1 seeds. She shared the bracket on her Instagram Stories and expressed how excited she truly is.
“Let’s Dance,” she wrote.

Coming into Selection Sunday, the South Carolina Gamecocks were the No. 4 team in the AP Top 25. They are one of the four No. 1 seeds, along with UConn, UCLA and Texas. South Carolina was initially ranked No. 3 but dropped to No. 4 after losing to Texas in the SEC Tournament final.
South Carolina is playing in the Sacramento 4 regional, and it will kick off its March Madness campaign against either No. 16 Southern or No. 16 Samford on March 21.
Under Dawn Staley, the Gamecocks ended their campaign with a 31-3 overall record. While they lost the SEC Championship, they did win the SEC regular-season title thanks to their 15-1 record vs. other SEC teams. Their only losses this season were against Oklahoma and Texas (twice), once in the regular season and once in the SEC Tournament final.
Raven Johnson Named Finalist for Prestigious National Award
As Raven Johnson, Tessa Johnson and the rest of the Gamecocks gear up for the NCAA Tournament, the senior point guard also earned a nomination for one of the most prestigious awards in college women’s basketball.
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced that Raven Johnson had been named one of the five finalists for the 2026 Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given to the top point guard in women’s college basketball. This should be a fine addition to her SEC Defensive Player of the Year award if she wins.
