Texas Longhorns’ Madison Booker is being compared to Kevin Durant, and it’s well deserved. In her junior year, Booker is playing the best basketball of her career with the Longhorns, and the stats prove that.
She is averaging career high in points, rebounds, and steals, with 19.3, 6.7, and 2.2, respectively. She is also shooting at a career high 52.1% from the field. Booker led her team once again in the Elite Eight matchup.
The Longhorns played the Michigan Wolverines today, and Booker was on a roll. She scored 19 points, shooting 8 of 13 from the field with seven rebounds, one assist, and two steals. The Longhorns won 77-41 and advanced to the Final Four.
During the game, Booker made a pull-up shot, which reminded fans of Kevin Durant. The NBA legend has one of the sharpest crossover pull-up shots in the NBA. KD’s technique is nearly unmatched, but what Booker did today had a striking similarity to his shot.
Booker was being guarded by Kendall Dudley of the Michigan Wolverines when she did the right-to-left crossover pull-up, making it one of the most aesthetic shots of the night. The commentators raved about it, and so did the fans on social media.
“She deada** looks just like him man,” a fan wrote.
“exactly like em,” a fan wrote.
“KD JR,” a fan wrote.
“okay this is the only ‘looks just like him man’ that’s kinda true,” a fan wrote.
“She hoop jus like Kd dats crazy,” a fan wrote.
Being compared to KD is an accomplishment for any player at any level, let alone a 20-year-old college athlete. The sky is the limit for Madison Booker.
Madison Booker is Signed to Kevin Durant’s KD Brand
Booker is the first NIL athlete signed by NBA superstar Kevin Durant to his Nike KD brand. She has built a close mentorship with the former Longhorn, and she often debuts his signature shoes during her games.
When asked about the collaboration and how she feels about working with KD, Booker said it’s a surreal feeling.
“It is still surreal. I can’t believe that really happened… Signing with my favorite player, his shoe deal, and stuff like that, that means a lot. I love wearing KDs. I wear ’em all the time,” she said.
Booker said that KD’s biggest advice to her is “just go take it.” He believes in the talent she possesses, and as a mentor, Durant is helping her realize her full potential.
