Dawn Staley has been unapologetic about her love for the Philadelphia 76ers despite spending much of her coaching life in South Carolina.
She was quick to share her excitement as a blockbuster NBA trade took shape between her beloved 76ers and the Boston Celtics.
“We really got @FCHWPO?!!! Let’s gooooo @sixers! Hey Jaylen, no one’s going to love you like us, Philly fans. All of you!” Staley wrote on the social media platform X.
Dawn Staley was responding to reports suggesting a major trade was underway, with Jaylen Brown joining the Philadelphia 76ers and Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks joining the Boston Celtics.
The trade is set to end Jaylen Brown’s association with the Celtics, which began in 2016, when he was drafted by the multi-time NBA Champions in the first round as the third overall pick, following a strong showing at California.
“Nobody has won more combined regular-season and playoff games since I entered the league 10 years ago,” Jaylen Brown posted on social media, fueling speculation that he might be under-appreciated at Boston.

Dawn Staley’s excitement about the Jaylen Brown trade stems from her deep love for the Philadelphia 76ers. It started when she was a kid growing up in Philadelphia, and she still regularly shares updates on her social media, especially about the team’s successes.
While she went on to enjoy a coaching career at South Carolina, she has always stayed true to her Philly roots and is clearly utilizing the Brown move to showcase her love for the NBA franchise even more.
