It was a day to rejoice for the women of Team USA as they marched to victory in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s tournament, beating Australia 21-20 in the final and capturing a well-earned trophy.
The highlight of the night was a clutch, game-winning shot from Mikaylah Williams, whose emotions were through the roof after the match-winning contribution that got her team the big trophy.
“I’m blessed to be on this stage, to play with some amazing teammates, to play for some amazing coaches and to rep USA,” Mikaylah said following the victory.
But her emotions were even more on display on social media, where the LSU star posted photos of the win, prompting a reply from one of her closest teammates, both in college and while on USA duty.
“Why not us,” was the caption Williams put up, and the congratulatory messages flowed in via the comment section, with MiLaysia Fulwiley leaving a three-word reply of her own.

“Smooth operator 12ski” with a bunch of emojis was how Fulwiley put it, with Williams chiming in with “yk itttttt”(you know it) as a reply, showing their close bond both on and off the court.
MiLaysia Fulwiley was herself an integral part of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup gold-medal triumph, playing a crucial role throughout the tournament, as well as in the final against Australia, even if Williams went home with the headlines.
Mikaylah Williams was the star of the tournament, winning the MVP award and becoming the first American woman since Cameron Brink in 2023 to clinch the prestigious honor.
LSU The Next Big Priority For Mikaylah Williams And MiLaysia Fulwiley
The FIBA 3×3 win would have felt incredibly special for Williams and Fulwiley, but the next major priority is winning the SEC crown for LSU.
Kim Mulkey’s stars fell short last season, with the Texas Longhorns and South Carolina Gamecocks in particular making their mark in the SEC. But with a renewed squad and some experienced seniors in the team, this might be the year that LSU get back to the top.
