No. 6 LSU may have fallen off a bit since the season started, but Kim Mulkey’s squad are still one of the most dangerous teams in women’s basketball, and their next game will be against the No. 24 Alabama Crimson Tide. However, Alabama is still a dangerous team and may give Flau’jae Johnson and company a run for their money. Are there any players injured, and who will be starting during this SEC women’s basketball showdown?
LSU vs. Alabama Women’s Basketball Starting Lineups
LSU Tigers
- Aneesah Morrow (F)
- Jersey Wolfenbarger (F)
- Mikaylah Williams (G)
- Last-Tear Poa (G)
- Flau’jae Johnson (G)
Alabama Crimson Tide
- Naomi Jones (F)
- Diana Collins (G)
- Ta’Mia Scott (G)
- Karly Weathers (G)
- Jessica Timmons (G)
Alabama is playing small ball, but Naomi Jones can anchor in the center for the Crimson Tide. However, Aneesah Morrow can be seen as the biggest inside threat here, as she can play the 4 and the 5 spots easily, and with Mulkey’s history in developing bigs, Morrow should dominate.
As for the guards, Mulkey may like bigs, but she has also been good at developing guards, with Williams and Johnson as her best weapons. Scott and Weathers have been good for Alabama, but so far, Mulkey’s squad still have better quality.
LSU vs. Alabama Women’s Basketball Injury Report
LSU Tigers
- Kailyn Gilbert (G): Out, undisclosed injury
Alabama Crimson Tide
- No injuries listed in the report so far
Both SEC powerhouses are coming in quite healthy, though LSU will be missing Kailyn Gilbert, who had 16 points and three rebounds during that win against Arkansas. Still, not a lot of injuries and neither team seem to be worried about other players missing action so far.
LSU vs. Alabama Women’s Basketball Prediction
The game will be held in LSU’s own home floor, and the Tigers are one of the best home teams in women’s college basketball right now. The Tigers are also one of the best teams in the country, so it should be easy to say that this would be a win for Kim Mulkey’s squad. However, Alabama should be able to keep things competitive, so this one would not be a blowout.
