“Best Coach in the Country”: Jada Williams Makes Bold Claim About Kim Mulkey as She Begins LSU Journey

Jada Williams is set to begin a new chapter in her career as she joins LSU for the 2026-27 campaign, and it appears there seems to be a lot of confidence in the women’s college basketball star as she joins up with the Tigers.

Speaking to 247Sports, Williams laid out her exact reasons for joining LSU, and made no bones about the fact that playing for Kim Mulkey had a major role to play in her decision to come to Louisiana.

“For me, it was going somewhere where I’m going to be surrounded by people who are like-minded so you don’t have to worry about what comes off the court,” Williams said. “And then two, playing with dogs. I think we have 7 or 8 McDonald’s All Americans. Besides South Carolina, you don’t hear that.

“So, I’m just super excited to be around dogs, play with people who are like-minded and (Kim) Mulkey’s the best coach in the country. I’ve watched her for years. We had a great relationship when she was at Baylor, so I’m just excited to get out there.”

The culture of LSU also made a difference in Jada Williams taking the decision to transfer to LSU.

“Knowing what LSU stands for and the culture they have and how they let their players be themselves, whether that’s NIL, basketball, whatever the case may be, they’re going to do whatever they can to enhance that,” Williams continued.

“They’re not trying to take anything away from us and so that’s something that was a green flag for me.”

Can LSU Win the Natty This Time?

The ultimate goal for LSU will be to win a national championship, and adding players like Jada Williams certainly gives them impetus despite losing key players such as Flau’jae Johnson to the WNBA.

That being said, with teams such as Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks, the Texas Longhorns and Tennessee Lady Vols involved in the SEC, this might not be a straight forward operation.

The likes of MiLaysia Fulwiley, Jada Williams and Mikaylah Williams will have to be at their best to take LSU home.
