LOOK: Angel Reese’s LSU Head Coach Kim Mulkey Echoes WNBA Star’s Latest Achievement

Kim Mulkey has been very consistent in producing stars out of LSU, and two of her greatest players just faced off, as Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream faced off against Aneesa Morrow and the Connecticut Sun. The two former LSU standouts faced off in the battle of the boards, and the showdown did not disappoint.

The game saw Angel Reese officially entering the 1,000-point club in the WNBA while also averaging the most offensive rebounds per game in the league, while Aneesa Morrow currently leads the league in rebounding and double-doubles.

With that career night for the two former LSU Tigers, their former coach and mentor, Kim Mulkey, proudly shared the story on her Instagram page.

NCAA won her first and only NCAA title under Kim Mulkey in 2023, beating Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the final.  Meanwhile, Aneesa Morrow transferred in from DePaul to LSU in 2024, so she and Reese were teammates for one season there, and she became one of the Tigers’ defensive stalwarts. Mulkey posting about her achievements on social media just shows that even after they left Baton Rouge, she is still very proud of them.

When the two were together at LSU, Reese and Morrow had to share rebounding duties. Before she transferred to LSU. Morrow had been a season rebounding leader, while Reese was a defensive wall who was also a good rebounder. When Reese left LSU for the WNBA, Morrow became the NCAA season rebounding leader again.

Angel Reese’s Career Achievement Came With Her 1st 3-Pointer Of The Season

As for Angel Reese herself, she was very impressive against her former teammate as she helped lead the Dream to a 91-75 win. She had 12 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block during the game and had her 1,000th career point in the WNBA during the night, and this came after hitting a rare three-pointer, the first she ever did this season.

This was also Reese’s fifth double-double performance of the season and helped improve Atlanta’s record to 6-2.
