MiLaysia Fulwiley is proving to be one of the best sixth women in college basketball, whether for South Carolina or LSU. The LSU Tigers guard has proven to be as smooth as butter, and she has now gotten a career milestone in women’s basketball with 93 steals to her name. This is now the 2nd-highest in the SEC and the 13th-highest in NCAA women’s basketball.
This soon garnered the reactions of several people, most notably LSU Tigers WBB assistant coach Gary Redus (not to be confused with the former Cincinnati Reds baseball player), who had some buttery words for one of his biggest stars:
“Cajun butterrrrrr,” he said.

The achievement came shortly after she was snubbed for the SEC WBB Defensive Player of the Year Award but won the SEC Sixth Woman of the Year Award. She is now the third LSU WBB player to ever win the award after Sylvia Fowles in 2005 and Allison Hightower in 2008.
Despite being a guard, MiLaysia Fulwiley is also a defensive powerhouse, averaging 3.9 rebounds per game, along with 93 steals and 41 blocks for the season. She also averages 14.1 points per game on 47.4% from the field, which makes her a threat on both sides of the court.
MiLaysia Fulwiley Talks About Her Bond With Her LSU Teammates
A day after getting Sixth Woman of the Year honors, MiLaysia Fulwiley sat down with Red Bull for an interview, alongside teammate Mikaylah Williams. There, they discussed the competitive spirit at LSU, with Fulwiley stating that it gives the team its edge.
“Our whole team is competitive and that’s what makes us special,” she said. “We’ve taught each other to all be a team and really buy in, which takes work from all of us. We all want to do our part so we can win in the end.”
She also revealed that they do extra “team bonding” off the court to build more chemistry with one another.
