JuJu Watkins is one of the best players in women’s basketball in the collegiate level. In 67 games, she averages 25.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. She suffered a disheartening ACL injury in the second round of the 2025 NCAA tournament against Mississippi State. She underwent a surgery that put her out of action for the rest of the season.
However, despite Watkins’ injury concerns, she got a nice surprise when Stephen Curry decided to honor the USC standout with a special gesture.
As Curry warmed up ahead of the Warriors vs Pistons matchup Saturday, he wore JuJu Watkins’ Nike GT Cut 3 Turbo PE. Stephen Curry and Under Armour ended their 12-year long partnership last year.
However, when the partnership ended, the two-time MVP kept the propriety of his signature shoe. This also meant that Curry started wearing shoes from different athletes in his warmups and games. When he did the same for an ailing JuJu Watkins, she was excited to see one of the greatest of all time honor her. She reshared a post with the caption “wow, wow, wow.”
While it was expected of JuJu Watkins to return sometime this season, it was reported in December that she is expected to miss the entire year. She did some light workout in December, but the medical team decided it was not worth the risk to hasten her return.
