Five-star forward Eve Long narrowed her shortlist to three programs on Wednesday morning: Geno Auriemma’s UConn, Cori Close’s UCLA, and Niele Ivey’s Notre Dame. The No. 8 prospect nationally in the 2027 Class dropped Duke and Kansas from her list of possible commitments.
Long confirmed that she will announce her commitment decision on Wednesday at 11:15 at Olathe South High School.
Long, who has officially received 37 offers, averaged 22.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in her sophomore season. She also won gold at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup. She was named to the tournament’s All-Star five after averaging 11.8 points across six starts.
According to 247Sports, Long is ranked No. 2 nationally at the power forward position and No. 1 in Kansas in her recruiting class. She has all the attributes to make an impact in college. She can shoot from deep, rebound well and drive to the basket.
Brandon Clay, who is the 247Sports Director of Scouting for Women’s Basketball, shared a scouting profile on Long in December:
“Throughout the calendar year, Long has continued to grow her skill set. She is one of the premier rebounders in the class and is comfortable making a play with the basketball in her hands in the halfcourt. Long continues to add to her outside shot making ability as well.”
Why Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies, Cori Close’s UCLA Bruins, and Niele Ivey’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish Are After Eve Long’s commitment
Eve Long has lined up official visits with the above-mentioned programs.
Geno Auriemma believes adding a player with Long’s size and two-way versatility could anchor the next era of Huskies basketball. Meanwhile, Cori Close’s evolving frontcourt style at UCLA could perfectly align with what Long can do on the court. Niele Ivey’s Notre Dame also offers a championship pedigree and national visibility.
As such, the deciding factors for Long could be WNBA-ready development, national championship contention, overall fit and long-term growth on and off the court.
