Beyond Basketball, Flau’jae Johnson’s Skills Assessed by LSU Coach as College Comes to an End

LSU Tigers star Flau’jae Johnson will be honored on Senior Night alongside teammates Izzy Besselman and Amiya Joyner in the final regular-season home game versus Tennessee. On Wednesday, she played her final SEC regular-season game in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Over four seasons, Johnson has been a key contributor to LSU’s success, winning the program’s first NCAA National Championship in 2023 and helping the Tigers consistently reach deep into the postseason.

Ahead of her Senior Night, Johnson received immense praise from LSU softball head coach Beth Torina, who shared the Tigers basketball star has served as an inspiration on the campus.

“She has been incredible,” Torina said. “Just an icon for women’s athletics here. She’s somebody who really sets the bar for how women should be treated and how you should play, for all of those things. I mean, she’s raised the bar, raised the expectations, and it’s just been fun to watch her compete for four years. I can’t believe that’s coming to an end. So we’ll watch her compete at the next level too, I’m sure.”

Johnson will now hope to lead LSU deep into the NCAA Tournament, probably go on to win the championship before she arrives in the WNBA.
