Flau’jae Johnson’s Slick Answer About Her “Legacy” Draws Proud Smile from Kim Mulkey

Flau’jae Johnson is one of the biggest names in college basketball. She has been the face of LSU since Angel Reese moved to the WNBA in 2024. Kim Mulkey has always seen a leader in Flau’jae, who has been proving the head coach right for years now. Even when Reese was a big part of the LSU Tigers, Flau’jae was not just another player. She was always in conversations and made waves with her performances.

Flau’jae was a major part of LSU’s 2022-23 national championship. As a freshman, she started all her games and played over 25 minutes in every game. This season, she has been averaging 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. She also has an ambition to get drafted as the No. 1 pick.

Apart from basketball, she also has a successful rap career. She has been rapping since childhood, and she started in honor of her late father, Camoflauge, who was also a rapper. Flau’jae first appeared on America’s Got Talent and earned a Golden Buzzer. She got fame before playing for Kim Mulkey. Safe to say she is excelling at both.

A reporter recently asked Flau’jae how she is “trying” to navigate between two fields.

“Not trying, did. So, I think I did pretty good. Won a national championship, did a song with Lil Wayne. I got my own label. About to start signing artist. So, I’m doing my thing. Um, but that’s just who I am. That’s the legacy that I wanted to leave. And I feel like I did it and I did it in a in a good manner,” Flau’jae’s answer had Kim Mulkey proudly smiling.

“Like my music never had me distracted from basketball. I always overworked myself and outworked everybody that I could so I could show people like this is who I am. Like this is just what I do. It’s not just music or basketball. It’s like who I am as a person. So um just have to thank Coach Mulkey and everybody for just allowing me to be me. But it’s also like me putting in the work and me giving them that trust that I’m gonna be able to handle my business was a big part of it too,” she added.
