“I’m Coming to Turn Up the City”: Dawn Staley’s Future Weapon Sends Upbeat Message to Gamecocks Nation

Jerzy Robinson is raring to join Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks. The No. 5 recruit in the 2026 class (ESPN) is in her final year with Sierra Canyon and will join the Gamecocks this fall.

While warming up for the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Girls Game, Robinson hyped up the Gamecocks nation. She also sent her best wishes to the Gamecocks ahead of their Final Four game against the UConn Huskies.

“You know, I already text coach. I told coach, you’re in my hometown. I’m pulling up to the game. Handle business and let’s get this Natty. Oh, man. I’m coming to turn up the city. That’s what I gotta say. Let’s go,” she said.

Robinson, who is from Phoenix, Arizona, will be among the Gamecocks’ faithful turning up for the game as Dawn Staley’s team looks to avenge its loss in the national championship game against the Huskies last season.

Robinson, meanwhile, was part of the loaded East roster, which won the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Girls Game 91-71.

Jerzy Robinson Opens Up About Her Versatility Before Joining Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks

During media day ahead of the McDonald’s All-American Girls Game, Jerzy Robinson explained that she wished to contribute to the Gamecocks in more than one way.

“I think for me, it’s versatility,” Robinson said Monday. “Just coming in and being able to do anything, you know, contribute in different ways other than what we all know and love to do, which is scoring. Then, I think leadership is gonna be a big role for me as well. So just coming in, being a sponge, but also being myself when I step in there.”

She also had high praise for Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley.

“When picking a college, it’s all about fit, so I’m ready to go play for a dog like Dawn Staley.”

While Robinson has not signed with the Gamecocks, she is expected to complete the formalities in the spring.

Robinson leaves Sierra Canyon as the school’s all-time leading scorer while leading them to the CIF Southern Section Open Division championship. In the championship game, Robinson scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Ontario Christian. She averaged 21.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in the season.
