Dawn Staley is celebrating her 56th birthday and it’s clear that she has plenty of people sending her love and best wishes. After all, the South Carolina Women’s Gamecocks head coach has been an integral part of the growth of women’s basketball and indeed college basketball as a whole over the last couple of decades.
So it was only fitting that Staley received a hero’s birthday wish on her special day, with one this year coming thanks to Gamecocks women’s basketball assistant coach, Khadijah Sessions.
Staley’s assistant coach was among those who made it a point to get an entire crowd of people to chant happy birthday to Dawn Staley, with the moment being recognized by Dawn Staley herself.
Rapper Plies Replies to Dawn Staley’s Appreciation
Just like Sessions, rapper Plies has some very close ties with Dawn Staley. The duo consistently share their friendship on social media, and this time was no different.
Plies was heavily involved in the birthday wish for Staley, leading to the shout out from the coach, and Plies then went on to show Staley love again for all she does.
With the accolades she has, Dawn Staley just might be the GOAT of women’s basketball as Plies claims that she is. The Gamecocks nearly ended up winning the women’s NCAA tournament under Staley, narrowly losing out in the finals of the tournament after a near-perfect run through March Madness.
