Dawn Staley’s South Carolina lost Raven Johnson, Ta’Niya Latson and Madina Okot to the WNBA draft. But they were able to survive the transfer portal without losing any players. Moreover, they are expected to have both Chloe Kitts and Ashlyn Watkins back in the time for next season who suffered season-ending injuries.
They also strengthened their squad with two of the most talented freshmen and an impressive addition from the transfer portal. Their transfer portal was headlined by incoming five-star forward and No. 3 ranked recruit Oliviyah Edwards.
The Gamecocks also welcomed another five-star freshman Jerzy Robinson. Freshmen Kaeli Wynn and Kelsi Andrews also committed to South Carolina.
One last addition for next season was Texas transfer guard Jordan Lee. Recently Chloe Kitts talked about the Gamecocks’ upcoming season and her new teammates, especially phenom Oliviyah Edwards.
She was asked about how Oliviyah Edwards is coming along in South Carolina. She answered:
“I am very excited. We had some conversations when she was here. She really wants to learn from me and Ashlyn [Watkins], so we are going to be very helpful for her. I am just excited. She’s a freak athlete and a great player so it’s going to be exciting.”
Chloe Kitts Provides Update on Her Recovery
Kitts suffered a season-ending ACL tear in October 2025. Her right knee was operated on after the injury. She has returned to practice and is participating in multiple drills.
When asked about recovery, she said:
“It’s going really well…I’m able to do some workouts. I did a lot during our summer workouts. Can’t do everything but I’m just happy to be out there with my team”
