Azzi Fudd’s WNBA Dream to Follow GF Paige Bueckers Might Be in Peril According to Latest Mock Draft

Azzi Fudd is the latest big star coming out of Geno Auriemma’s brilliant UConn Huskies program. She is league-ready and is set to get picked in the 2026 WNBA Draft. She has naturally been the leader for the Huskies this season after her girlfriend Paige Bueckers was drafted last year.

Fudd has been one of the brightest talents in college basketball ever. However, her college career has always been troubled by injuries. She and Bueckers ended up as the national champions last year.

Recently, Azzi Fudd’s podcast and Breanna Stewart’s podcast had a crossover. They talked about Fudd’s chances of being the No. 1 WNBA draft pick this year. She said she was trying to live in the moment and not think too much about what happens after a couple of months. However, she did admit that she dreams of being the next No. 1 WNBA draft pick.

    Breanna Stewart said:

“Now, potentially the opportunity to be the No. 1 draft pick. How much are you like watching that? ‘Cause I feel like from what I’m seeing, and I just see it from social media, it’s like it’s fluctuating, you know. It was going to be uh Awa Fam and now it’s Azzi. Is there a big like you want to be No. 1, I’m assuming. But are you thinking about it a lot?”

    Azzi Fudd answered:

“I’m not [thinking]. I mean, obviously, that getting drafted is a dream and being No. 1 is a dream. It’s like I want to be in that UConn hallway with you and with everyone else. But I’m really not thinking about it. But I’m not on social media too much to avoid seeing that and just hearing all the outside voices because I’ve seen with all my past teammates just how easy it is to be consumed by that and be consumed by what’s next.”

“But I’m really trying to stay present because I know I’ve got two months left and I’m going to miss as much as I might complain if you’re listening. I never complain, but like a CD game or a CD walk or like a team this or like just whatever it may be. In the moments like, ‘Oh,’ but in two months I’m going to be like, ‘I wish I had a CD walk. I wish I had a team dinner. I wish I was getting dressed up for whatever.’ So, I’m really trying to like not think um about too much of what’s going to happen after cuz I also can’t control it. It’s not in my hands. I got to take care of business here first,” she added.
