The WNBA and WNBPA have agreed upon the new CBA deal after a prolonged battle of negotiations between the two parties. Although the two sides didn’t disclose details of the new agreement, ESPN analyst Shams Charania shared the terms on X.
The NBA analyst wrote on X:
“Details of a landmark WNBA collective bargaining agreement, per ESPN sources:
– New salary cap starting at $7 million, up from $1.5 million
– Average revenue share of nearly 20% across deal
– Supermax starting at $1.4M
– Average salary in range of $600K, minimum above $300K”
Under the new terms, the players’ salary cap has been increased from $1.5 million to $7 million. Moreover, the supermax contracts will start at $1.4 million and can range up to $2 million and above.

After the new CBA deal was agreed upon, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert shared her views on the negotiations and hailed the new terms as win-win for both parties. She said:
“The progress made in these discussions marks a transformative step forward for players and the league. It’s [been] a process, but we’re very proud to be leading in women’s sports, and these players are amazing, and we’re going to have an amazing 30th season tipping off in May.”
The new CBA deal is a landmark moment for the future of women’s basketball in the country and in the world. The players’ association’s executive committee members and other leadership were satisfied with the new terms and expressed their agreement.
