“What If They Break Up?”: Wings Fans React to Azzi Fudd’s Cryptic Take on Paige Bueckers Reunion in WNBA

The Dallas Wings could reunite Paige Bueckers and her girlfriend, Azzi Fudd, this year in the WNBA. After the Wings won the draft lottery about a week ago, they could add the UConn superstar to their roster.

When asked on Thursday if she could end up in Dallas to play with Bueckers, Fudd answered a non-committal “Maybe,” prompting reactions from fans.

    One fan wrote:

“You can’t do that if you are Dallas, pretty obvious as to why. What happens if they break up?”

    Another fan added:

“A ‘maybe’ isn’t definitive but this is the most she’s said on the topic, so it’s pretty much a wrap.”

    One more fan continued:

“That would be awesome to see her and Paige playing together again.”

    Another fan commented:

“I hope not. … We got tired of seeing them play together. … I hope she don’t play with Paige again.”

    One fan tweeted:

“Whatever they have going on, they’re private now. Nobody’s gonna know if they broke up or not. lol.”

Bueckers and Fudd won a championship together for UConn in 2025. The former landed in Dallas as the No. 1 pick last year, while the latter could follow her if the Wings value their partnership regardless of their off-court relationship.

Azzi Fudd’s uncertainty about playing for the Wings is in line with multiple scouts and analysts’ predictions of the draft. There is no consensus No. 1 pick, unlike the previous three years, where Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Paige Buckers were obvious choices.

If not Fudd, the Wings could pair Bueckers with UCLA superstar Lauren Betts. The 6-foot-7 center is averaging 17.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks per game this season. LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson, TCU’s Olivia Miles, South Carolina’s Ta’Niya Latson and Spanish sensation Awa Fam are the Wings’ other options for the No. 1 pick.

Johnson, Miles, Latson,  Betts and Fudd are all competing in the Sweet 16. Fam recently suited up for Spain against Bueckers and Team USA in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico, roughly a week ago.

WNBA Legend Diana Taurasi Predicts Paige Bueckers-Azzi Fudd Reunion in Dallas

Former WNBA superstar Diana Taurasi might be a little biased with her comments about this year’s draft. The UConn great, in an interview with NBC Sports, couldn’t resist the former Huskies to reunite in Dallas.

    The three-time WNBA champ said:

“I just think from a bird’s eye view, you would say Azzi (Fudd) is the No. 1 pick. The synergy that she has with Paige (Bueckers) on the court. They play great together.”

Taurasi added that Fudd has looked dominant on both ends, making her likely the first name to be called in the 2026 WNBA draft. The 2009 MVP wouldn’t be the only Storrs product hyped to see a Bueckers-Fudd reunion in Dallas.
