Angel Reese Fights Back Tears After Heated Incident With Isabelle Harrison as Brawl Mars Dream Win

Angel Reese showed emotion as Chicago got back in the win column Sunday with a 102-77 win over the Toronto Tempo. After a loss to the New York Liberty on Thursday, when Atlanta often looked disconnected from its own identity, Sunday night felt like the course correction they needed.

While it was a great night for the Dream, it did have quite a few negative moments. Reese was on the receiving end of a dirty play multiple times throughout the game. Isabelle Harrison, who joined the expansion team in the offseason, wasted no time getting physical with Reese on the court and was caught taking a cheap shot that could have ended very badly.

On one possession, Harrison was defending Reese when the two got tangled. Harrison then hooked Reese from behind and pulled her backward, causing Reese to fall to the floor. Referees reviewed the play and issued Harrison a flagrant 2 foul and an ejection for the incident.

Harrison created a lot of chaos throughout the night and made it clear from the beginning when she poked the ball from Reese’s hands. Reese, who played with Harrison during her rookie season with Chicago, went at each other, trading physical play and plenty of contact throughout the game.

Harrison was attempting to do whatever she could to prevent Reese from scoring. Reese, on the other hand, was doing whatever she could to guide the ball to the basket. One could see that the physical play from Tempo players was getting into Reese’s head. The emotion became evident when she began fighting back tears during a timeout.

There’s no question that Harrison’s physical play on Reese was uncalled for, and it was satisfying that the Dream made her pay for it. Atlanta will now look to build off their momentum when they face the Indiana Fever on Thursday. The Tempo, meanwhile, dropped back-to-back games and will also face the Fever on Tuesday.

Angel Reese continues impressive debut season with the Atlanta Dream

The Dream are a far more competitive team this season, largely due to Angel Reese’s arrival. She finished the game with a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds, adding to her impressive tally this season. She leads the rebounding ranks at 11.9 per game this season.
