The Dallas Wings have signed Sug Sutton for the rest of the season after the team’s front office decided to waive a young JJ Quinerly from the roster. However, the franchise decided to sign another veteran guard. JJ played just two games this season, but the fans believed that the team should not have signed another guard, as the roster is already guard-heavy.
The Wings team already has multiple options at the guard position: franchise face, Paige Buckers, shooting guard Azzi Fudd, and veteran Arike Ogunbowale. Aziaha James also leads the team off the bench. However, the team needs to strengthen the frontcourt, and fans highlighted that in the comments.
The Wings official channel shared the news on Instagram and wrote:
“Welcome, Sug 💙
The Dallas Wings have signed Sug Sutton to a rest-of-season contract.”
Fans were in shock with the franchise’s decision to sign another veteran guard, as one wrote:
“Another 5’8 guard??”
Another user stated that they didn’t have any trust in the front office now and wrote:
“I just wanna say… I once again have lost faith in whatever the hell Dallas has going on”
One more user suggested that the team needed a defensive wing more than a guard and wrote:
“We need a defensive wing”
One more user asked a similar question and wrote:
“🗣️WHAT DO YALL HAVE AGAINST POST PLAYERS”

Myisha Hines-Allen has been the key operator on the board for the Wings, leading the franchise with six rebounds per game. Even though the Wings lack size in the paint, they have had a good run until now. However, they are coming off a difficult loss to the Portland Fire.
Wings suffered a difficult loss to the Fire
The Wings suffered an 83-84 loss to the Fire that ended the latter’s four-game losing streak, as Bridget Carleton led the team with 20 points. The Commissioner’s Cup game turned out to be a perfect moment for the team to end their losing run.
The Dallas squad will now look to return to winning ways against the Golden State Valkyries, who are on a hot winning streak. Bueckers leads the team in PPG (19.8) and APG (5.8), while Fudd shares her duties on the offensive side of the court.
