Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings were blown out by the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday. The Lynx dominated the Wings, winning 100-76 and extending their winning streak to eight games.
The result snapped a four-game winning streak for Dallas, which has made a promising start this season. With Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and Arike Ogunbowale leading the charge, the Wings are third in the West. However, they were clearly not at their best at the Target Center on Tuesday.
10 months ago, Paige Bueckers quoted Stephen Curry when Dallas was struggling with a 9-31 record. She asked Wings fans to stick with the team despite one of the worst seasons in WNBA history.
After the loss against the Liberty on Tuesday, Bueckers was asked to revisit that statement.
“This league is full of professionals, full of best women’s basketball players of the world. Nights like tonight happen, but you can’t let it become a habit. Can’t let it become something that carries from game to game.”
“The fun thing about this league is that we have a chance to respond in less than 48 hours. So, flush this and take it in. I know we have to learn and get better. We will have film and we will digest it. But we know that we can respond, Thursday. And just be better from that,” she added.
Olivia Miles dominates vs Paige Bueckers and Dallas Wings
Olivia Miles led the Lynx with 24 points. She also had seven rebounds and six assists in a complete performance. Kayla McBride scored 22 points with five rebounds and four assists. Natasha Howard had 21 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Courtney Williams contributed with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.
For the Wings, Paige Bueckers seemed like a lone warrior. She scored 23 points. Arike Ogunbowale added 16 points and Jessica Shepard had 12. It was a night to forget for Azzi Fudd, as she had only six points and two steals.
