Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers is noticeably stronger in her second WNBA season, evidenced by her imposing more of a physical will inside and a bigger upper frame. Comparing how she looked in her rookie year versus now, onlookers have pointed out how Bueckers looks bigger than she did. Signs have since been attributed to Bueckers’ work in the offseason, both on and off the court.
Given that the WNBA world is curious about how Bueckers prepared herself for her second campaign, women’s basketball insider Alexa Philippou asked Bueckers about the muscle she gained. Bueckers previously claimed that she gained 15 pounds over the offseason, but in her response to Philippou, she
admitted that she merely estimated it. Her quote was since reported by B/R W Sports on Instagram.
“Yeah, I just made that sh*t up. I’ve gained like 18 pounds, so I did mental math… I’m hoping that most of what I put on is muscle. It feels like it,” Bueckers was quoted as saying.

No matter how she prepared for the 2026 WNBA season, Bueckers’ development has helped the Wings perform better. The Dallas-based franchise’s 9-5 start is the best they’ve had in years, which can also be linked to their new coach, Jose Fernandez, and the Wings drafting Bueckers’ college teammate, Azzi Fudd. With all of these factors in play, the Wings are projected to make it into the playoffs this year.
Paige Bueckers hopes that her Dallas Wings emulates the 2026 San Antonio Spurs
In the 2026 NBA Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the reigning champions, Oklahoma City Thunder, in their best-of-seven series, 4-3. Watching the Spurs dissect the Thunder in every game, Paige Bueckers also shared in her interview with Alexa Philippou that she hopes her Dallas Wings team could eventually reach the level of chemistry the Spurs had.
“Every time OKC had a response to what they did, they were clapping, they were huddling, they were hype about it. It’s that level of connectivity and that level of passion and joy for the game and for each other that I think that’s what we’re focused on right now,” Bueckers shared.
